3D Laser Scanning

Using the latest C10 HDS Laser scanner from Leica, MK Surveys are able to record complex structures and objects quickly, accurately and safely.

What are the advantages?

Speed: Rapid collection of site data, millions of points per day. No omissions and elimination of return visits to site. Reduced man time on site.

Accuracy: Collection of site data to an accuracy +/- 3mm. Point clouds can be reviewed at any stage and the emerging image can then be rotated from all angles and the operator can “see” a virtual clone of the structure.

Safety: Unobtrusive data collection, Remote surveying by laser eliminates some Health & Safety hazards – e.g. working at heights, in dangerous environments etc.

Imagine having to refurbish or carry out intricate pipe work modifications. Without the scanner, a survey of this nature would take several senior surveyors days on site to complete. Using a 3D laser scanner, a single trained surveyor would take care of the field survey within a fraction of the time. The system can be used in any light, inside or outside.

Perhaps you need to survey a building elevation, bridge, tower, or telecom mast type structure. With high accuracies at a distance of 80m, we can measure complex or challenging structures from ground level or from a vehicle mounted platform, recording hundreds of thousands of points a minute with no risk of omissions. Moreover, 3D laser scanning produces accurate, timely and cost effective results without the inherent health and safety dangers normally encountered under such difficult circumstances.

The data can be downloaded and measurements extracted, CAD drawings of the entire structure can be created in 2D or as a 3D model. The data captured will provide simple but effective solutions to even the most complex of surveying challenges.
