Structural Monitoring

From the settlement of buildings, through to the deformation of structures and the movement of natural features, MK Surveys has the experience and technology to provide an appropriate monitoring and reporting solution that will inform the decision making process.

Each monitoring campaign is custom designed for duration, measurement frequency, accuracy and reporting format to ensure that an appropriate solution is provided using best survey practice.

Settlement & Verticality Monitoring – whether this is a new building slab or a parcel of land post fill, we can establish a permanent monitoring regime that can be repeated at agreed intervals and provide the monitoring results as a simple concise report.

Floor Slab Surveys – At handover post construction, as a check post installation of new equipment or as part of a change to the existing use, the level of an existing floor slab often needs to be proved to be within certain tolerances. MK Surveys have considerable experience in providing floor slab level surveys, either using sub millimetre digital levels or by utilising laser scanning methods, with results provided as level grids, contour plans and as contours with colour relief to highlight the high and low areas across the slab.

Verticality Surveys – These can be provided as simple sectional drawings with offsets from the vertical or as drawn elevations overlaid with contours and colour relief to highlight any areas of bulging.

Crack Monitoring – This includes installation of crack monitoring gauges and tell-tale studs to record any expansion of the crack, supported by recording of the crack location relative to the elevation and monitoring extents of the crack between visits.

Railway Monitoring – Live monitoring of rails during subsurface work or the monitoring of structures whilst construction is in progress, MK Surveys can provide site specific monitoring solutions to suit your project requirement. We have PTS trained staff and experience providing monitoring systems on Network Rail sites.
