Underground Utility Surveys
MK Surveys Underground Service Tracing & Mapping Division was established in 2002 and offers a wide range of services aimed at the detection, mapping and avoidance of underground utilities working in accordance with the publication ‘Guidance Note – Utility Surveys’ Issue 1, November 2009 published by The Survey Association. We use two forms of non penetrative detection: Electromagnetic detectors or CAT scanner and Multi Phase Ground Penetrating Radar (GPR).
- Utility Surveys & Mapping. Our most comprehensive service involves the 3D mapping of all utilities using both electromagnetic and GPR detection. Services are identified and located with depths recorded before being mapped relative to the survey base using GPS and total station technology. Survey data is presented to the client as an individually layered CAD file, as a colour coded plan and as a written report.
- Desk-Top Utility Record Packs. A complete concise and cost effective service for this time consuming activity, let us use our knowledge of the various utility providers to obtain and collate record information relative to your site. Records can be provided in paper format, as digital records or combined onto an existing survey or an OS base plan.
- Site Clearance. Need to be sure that your excavation or ground investigation is clear of services routes, our surveyors can visit before you start, scan the area and advise on potential conflicts.
- Site Mark-Out. Knowledge is the key to a safer working environment. In order to ensure all staff working on a project are aware of the main service routes from day one, our surveyors can locate and mark on the ground with colour spray or pegs, providing visual identification of the danger buried beneath.
